Balancier is a voice-first app for recording expenses, income, loans, business stock and invoices. It is run by Amrood, a small business based in Pakistan ('we'). You can reach us at [email protected].
This policy explains what information the app handles, why, who can see it, how long it is kept and what choices you have. We wrote it in plain words on purpose.
The short version
We keep only what the app needs to work. We do not sell your data and we do not show ads.
There are no analytics, advertising or tracking tools in the app.
Your records are stored on Google servers (Firebase, Mumbai region) and are visible to you, to the people you choose to share with, and to staff you add.
Voice recordings and photos you ask the app to read are sent to Google's AI service to be turned into entries.
You can download everything and delete your account at any time.
What we collect
Account details: the name and email of the Google account you sign in with, and an internal account ID.
Your records: entries (amounts, items, categories, dates, shops, notes), people you owe or who owe you, customers and suppliers, stock and stock movements, orders, invoices and payments, accounts and balances, budgets, monthly bills, and comments on records.
Details of other people that you choose to type in: for example a customer's name, phone number, email or address on an invoice. You are responsible for having a good reason to hold them (see Terms).
Settings: language, country, type of business, financial-year start, whether you are tax registered, tax and invoice details you enter, and your letterhead picture if you upload one.
Voice recordings: when you record an entry, the audio is sent to the AI service to be turned into an entry. If you have no internet, the recording waits on your phone and is deleted from the phone once it has been processed.
Photos: receipts and supply notes you scan are sent to the AI service. A compressed copy is kept with the entry only if you attach it.
Contacts: only if you allow it, the app reads your phone contacts on the device so you can pick a number for a WhatsApp message. Your contact list is not uploaded. The number you pick is saved to your account so you do not have to pick it again.
Your own AI key: if you add a Google AI Studio key, it is saved in your private account area so it works on all your phones.
Technical signals: Google's Firebase services handle sign-in, database and app-integrity checks (App Check). They process technical information such as device and app identifiers and IP address to keep the service working and secure.
Stored only on your phone: your PIN (kept as a salted hash, never the PIN itself), your choice of fingerprint or face unlock, your theme and language, and small memory of categories you chose before so the app can suggest them.
Why we use it, and our legal basis
To run the app for you: sign you in, save and show your records, make reports, invoices and exports. (This is needed to provide the service you asked for.)
To read voice and photos with AI. (You ask for this each time you record or scan.)
To keep the service safe: stop abuse, fix faults, keep the app working only for genuine copies of it. (Our legitimate interest in a secure service.)
To follow the law if we are legally required to. We do not use your records for advertising, profiling or training our own models.
Where a law such as the EU or UK GDPR applies to you, these are the legal bases we rely on. Where you gave permission (microphone, camera, contacts), you can take it back at any time in your phone settings.
AI processing (Google AI)
Voice and photos are processed by Google's AI service, either through our app's shared allowance or through your own key if you added one.
Please know: we use Google's free tier. Under Google's terms for that tier, Google may use content sent to it to improve its products and machine learning, and trained reviewers may read samples after the data has been separated from your Google account. Do not record or photograph anything you would not want processed this way, such as passwords, ID or card numbers.
The AI can make mistakes. The app shows you what it understood so you can check it before saving. Do not rely on it without checking.
Because of Google's terms for the free tier, the app is not offered in the European Economic Area, Switzerland or the United Kingdom at this time.
Who can see your data
You.
People you share with: anyone you add as a viewer sees only the records you share with them. You can stop sharing at any time.
Staff you add: staff see and change only what their permissions allow in the one business you add them to. You can remove them at any time.
Google: it runs the servers and the AI service for us (see above).
WhatsApp, only when you press a button to send a message. The app opens WhatsApp with the text; sending is your decision.
Us: as the app operator we can technically open the database through Google's admin console. We do that only to fix a fault, keep the service safe, help you at your request or follow the law. We do not read your records for any other reason.
We do not sell or rent your data to anyone.
Where your data is kept
Your records are stored in Google Cloud Firestore in the Mumbai (India) region. Google may process AI requests and security checks in other countries. We run the app from Pakistan. By using the app you understand that your data is handled in these places.
How long we keep it
We keep your data while your account exists. When you delete an entry it is removed from the live database. When you delete your account, your records, settings and sign-in are erased straight away. Google may keep technical logs and short-lived backups of its systems for a limited time under its own rules. We do not keep any copy of your records.
Records that someone else owns, for example entries you made as a member of another person's business staff, belong to that business owner and stay with them.
Your choices and rights
Download everything: Security & privacy, then Download my data.
Correct anything: edit any entry or setting in the app.
Delete your account and data: Security & privacy, then Delete my account. You can also ask on the web page described in the Delete account page, even if you no longer have the app.
Stop sharing or remove staff at any time.
Take back permissions in your phone settings.
Ask us a question or make a complaint at [email protected]. If a data protection law applies to you, you may also have the right to object to or restrict some processing and to complain to your local data protection authority. We will answer within 30 days.
Security
Data travels over encrypted connections. Our database rules allow each person to read only their own records and records shared with them. The app checks that requests come from the genuine app. You can turn on a PIN or fingerprint/face lock for the app on your phone. The lock protects the app on your phone; it is a convenience lock, not a vault, so also keep your phone locked.
No system is perfectly secure. If we learn of a breach that affects you we will tell you without delay.
Children
The app is not meant for children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has used the app, tell us at [email protected] and we will delete the account.
Changes to this policy
If we make important changes we will show a notice in the app before they apply. The date of the latest version is at the top.
